Ghost Boogies!

Lexi needed to bring something in to put in their "Witches Stew" at school. I thought it would be funny to buy some golden raisins and call them Ghost Boogies. We redecorated the packaging to look more Halloween-like.

Bridget had her first spaghetti dinner last night. She wasn't too sure about it but still tried it. When she was done she kept putting the little beef crumbles behind her head...not sure what that means - future vegetarian???

Tonight we are roasting up the last pumpkin from Ted and Judy's garden (Ted has H1N1 - keep him in your thoughts!)It took about 1 1/2 hours to roast and I'm just about to scoop out the flesh. Not sure what we are going to do with it yet...we may end up freezing it until we find something good to make with it.

Notice the face Lexi drew on it! haha

What a busy month!

I really REALLY need to start blogging again. This month has been crazy! From school to missing teeth, parties, to suppers, bridesmaid dresses, campfires, and being sick...whew! Lexi is doing well in school (or so she says) and is excited to go every morning. I'm really trying to drop her off for the bus and go to work but it is hard because I feel like I should see her get on the bus everyday. Thankfully, my neighbors walk their son to the bus stop so I know that an adult is with them. Bridget has been busy rolling around the living room going "Ning, Ning, cluck, cluck, da, da,..." I've been trying some new finger foods with her - so far Poptarts are her favorite!

I started a new afghan this month, it's called a Wool Eater Blanket. Looks difficult but once you get started it is simple.

Gifts from the Garden

Ted and Judy gave us some green beans and beets from their garden. I can't wait to have our own garden next year! We froze 3 bags of green beans and just cooked up the beets for supper tonight.

Here is Lexi's beet bear and what turned out to be breaded noodles (was supposed to be baked mac & cheese). Now I know that I need more sauce and less breadcrumbs. Whoops!

I also stopped by the Delano Farmer's Market on Wednesday and picked up some fresh black bean and corn salsa. This was good but very mild. Next time I think I am going to buy the jar of medium.

Bridget Gets Baptized!

Bridget's Baptism is tonight at the Marysville - Swedesburg Lutheran Church (part of Zion Lutheran Church). We chose tonight because they have evening services at this church (has no electricity or running water) only during the summer - and Bridget turns 8 months old today! She is really growing up fast! For the Baptism Bridget will be wearing the gown that both Lexi and I wore for Baptism. Hopefully, the church isn't too hot and humid inside. I think Bridget and Lexi will do fairly well as long as we keep them occupied.

On another note, Shane and I have decided to start eating healthier. Coming up you will see posts about our progress (which seems a little slow at this point but we are trying). We'd like to eat more vegetables and fruits and less processed food. So, here goes - today for lunch I had a leftover bakery hot dog bun with cheese and tomatoes and light mayo, some carrots and a handful of cherries.

It was actually a pretty filling lunch. The bigger bakery bun was really yummy (I put the buns in the freezer after a grill-night and thawed some of them out in the microwave last night). I wasn't sure about how they would taste after being thawed out and was surprised that they tasted as fresh as the day we grilled.

Stay tuned for more posts - I have a TON of pictures to upload!

Easter Egg Hunt Today in Waverly

We went to an Easter egg hunt this afternoon in Waverly with our friends Bob, Quinn and their son, Garret. I like when there are events in Railroad Park in Waverly since we can walk there. I did some coaching for Lexi before they started the Easter egg hunt...I think we may have to work on listening/following directions. haha! She ran right past all of the candy that was in front of her. She also saw her friend Jacob there from her daycare. It was fun! Bridget sat in her stroller and watched all the kids run around. They both got little bunnies from the Easter bunny.

Here is Lexi running to get some eggs. The boy pulling up his pants is Jacob from daycare.

Garret and Lexi with their candy and toys. There were a ton of kids in Lexi's age group...we should have snuck into the 0-3 year group.

Trying out rice cereal

Here is Bridget trying rice cereal. I don't think much made it to her tummy but she did good for her first time (minimal gagging). :)

She even wiped her own face off!

Finished project...

This cardigan was made for my niece Katie. I just need to weave in the ends and add the buttons.

St. Patrick's Day Parade - Maple Lake

Bridget's first parade - she slept through the whole thing!

Lexi had a blast at the parade. She waved at the princesses and had to tell me each time one of them smiled at waved back at her.

New Pictures!

This is a cat doll that I made on Saturday for Lexi. I still need to put the nose and mouth on it (right now it looks kind of scary!)

Lexi loves holding Bridget, and I think Bridget likes it too!

Something we just figured out about Bridget...

At first I thought Bridget didn't like her carseat...then I figured out it was the hat! She cries every time we put a hat on her. She started to coo and smile more at us - especially at Shane - I think she is going to be a daddy's girl. She has a really sweet personality.

She also doesn't like bows on her head (looking up at Grandpa Harry).

Lexi loves to play Wii Yoga!

She can walk!

Just kidding! Here is Bridget trying out her first pair of tennis shoes.

Lexi and Santa

I don't know why I didn't think to get a picture of both girls with Santa. :( Maybe next year.

Snow Day!

Shane plowed the driveway while Lexi played outside in the snow.

Here are Christmas pictures that I took of the girls.

Bridget vs. Teddy

Here is how Bridget compares to her teddy bear. haha!

Bridget still gets up every 2 hours around the clock and on rare occasion sleeps for 3 hours. It is tiring but seeing her little face at 3am makes up for it. She is awake more during the day and likes to stare at the Christmas tree and any light that is nearby. We went to the eye doctor on Tuesday and found out she has a congenital cataract in her left eye. I was worried that she would see a blurry spot but the doctor said that she will see just fine (no blurry spots). He also said that some people don't even know they have them. Her spot is less than a millimeter and shouldn't grow or multiply. I still worry about it though. We go back in a month to have it checked again.

Cookie Day!

Today, we went over to the Erickson's to bake cookies. Papa Ted held Bridget while we were mixing up the dough.

Lexi helped put sprinkles on the cookies.

I made cookies called Sandies. They were pretty easy to make (the recipe uses 2 sticks of butter!) although I couldn't get them to bake completely - even after 30 minutes in the oven. I'm definitely not a baker. :) Here is the dough...yummy!

First Bath and First Thanksgiving

We gave Bridget her first bath - she didn't like that at all!

Lexi and Bridget -

Bridget in her Thanksgiving outfit. I didn't get any other Thanksgiving pictures - two kids are a lot of work!
